The Challenge

We were recently engaged to assist with a cracked window replacement on a multi-storey building. At first glance, the task seemed straightforward: remove the beads, replace the glass, and move on. However, the location of the window several stories up—and with no viable access from ground level—turned a simple job into a complex height access challenge.
The Risk
Performing glazing work at height brings a unique set of risks. Without the right approach, there was potential for equipment or material drops, worker safety hazards, and delays due to access limitations. Wind, restricted maneuverability, and the lack of traditional access equipment all had to be considered and mitigated.

To overcome these challenges, we partnered with our client and brought in a specialist rope access team. Using rope access methods allowed us to reach the problem area without disrupting the surrounding site or requiring expensive scaffolding. Our experienced technicians coordinated closely to ensure every step—from bead removal to glass installation—was completed safely and efficiently.
RESULTS:
The window was successfully replaced without incident, and all work was completed safely, on time, and to a high standard. Despite the challenging location, we delivered a seamless solution that minimised disruption, controlled risks, and reinforced our ability to adapt beyond the limits of ground-level access.
