Lighting Up the Track for Wellington Kartsport’s First Night Meet

– events hire, wellington

When Wellington’s famously fierce winds had loosened a scrim sheeting on a motorway overbridge - at night - we flew into action to avoid a serious emergency.

The Challenge

VISIBILITY APLENTY WITH A MULTITUDE OF LIGHT TOWERS

When Wellington Kartsport set out to host their very first night meet, they knew lighting would be critical to the event’s success. With 58 kart entries and 44 bucket bike competitors confirmed, they needed a safe, reliable way to illuminate the entire track for both drivers and spectators. As this was a debut night event, the organisers wanted everything to run seamlessly, ensuring competitors could race with confidence and attendees could enjoy the action without concern.

The Risks:

Running motorsport events at night comes with its own set of challenges. Insufficient lighting can compromise driver safety, hinder visibility for marshals, and create a poor experience for spectators. In addition, the logistics of powering multiple light towers across a large track presented another layer of complexity. Without proper planning and fuel supply, there was a risk of delays or interruptions during the event, which could impact both safety and the overall success of the evening.

Our solution

spectators & participants had a safe, well-lit venue for their night meet

To deliver peace of mind and flawless execution, we supplied 18 high-quality light towers that provided exceptional visibility throughout the venue. Our team carefully coordinated delivery and set-up, ensuring the equipment was positioned for maximum coverage and minimal disruption to the racing environment.

To further support the organisers, we also managed a complete on-site refuelling service before the towers were returned, saving them time and effort at the end of a busy event. Thanks to this proactive approach, Wellington Kartsport’s first night meet went off without a hitch, giving participants and spectators a safe, well-lit, and unforgettable experience.
